Flights from the Rock launched on July 14 2019 to huge success from The Admiralty House Annex in Mount Pearl. Authors and fans from across the province gathered in The Annex to celebrate the launch with cake, lemonade, readings and games.
Readings included Nicole Little reading from her story ‘Far Out’ about people exploring a distant planet in a space-faring plane, to Jeff Slade’s partial reading of his story ‘The Flight of the Puffin,’ revolving around the work of a very special aircraft.
“The space was beautiful and the people wonderful,” said Engen founder Matthew LeDrew. “We’re blessed to have such wonderful fans of our work, and Admiralty House has all our gratitude for allowing us to use the space and the Field to Flight exhibit.” Continue reading Flights from the Rock launch: a huge success!
As we announced yesterday, reviews have been coming in for Jacobi Street and it looks like it’s set to be one of our most ambitious novels yet: a single book story (which we’ve never done before!) that brings the author back to his horror-roots. So of course we’re going to be launching it at Avalon Expo during the Writer’s Block, from 1:00-1:50PM on Friday, August 25, 2017! The event will actually kick off the whole Writer’s Block and be first first time the novel will actually be on sale!
“This will arguably be the darkest story from the Engen universe but even after ten years of writing LeDrew is still able to paint a horrifying tale with his writing.” — Paul Carberry, Zombies on the Rock

So apparently Sci-Fi on the Rock 11 and the Fantasy from the Rock launch party at A.C. Hunter Library (Arts and Culture Building) is only a week away? Time flies! Plans have been in place for months but a year’s worth of planning is really starting to take shape now. It’s going to be a great night on its own, and a great way to kick-off a great weekend celebrating the fantasy genre and writing in Newfoundland. 🙂
Join us in the Community Room at the A.C. Hunter Library to help celebrate the launch of Engen Book’s latest anthology. Fantasy from the Rock features 21 magical stories written by 18 spellbinding authors.
The event will feature selected readings from the collection and presentations by contributors, followed by a book signing, meet and greet, photo opportunities (with Blueberry, the fairy!).
Entrance to the book launch is free, and copies of Fantasy from the Rock will be on hand for $20.Join the event on Facebook here for updates: https://www.facebook.com/events/595011487364644/?active_tab=about
