WINNER: “LOCKS” BY DAVID LYNCH | KIT SORA FLASH FICTION PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST

Updated: Jul 8, 2022

After much deliberation, Engen Books is proud to announce the winner of the February 2022 Kit Sora Flash Fiction Photography Contest: David Lynch with the story, Locks!

David Lynch was born in St. John’s Newfoundland but grew up in Bellevue Beach. He is currently working on a high fantasy series titled The Egimian Chronicles, the first book of which releases in 2022 from Engen Books. In October 2020, Lynch won the third annual WANL “Nightmare on Water Street” contest. He was featured in Mythology from the Rock with his story, ‘Influence.’

We had two judges for this contest:

Kit Sora Photography. Kit Sora is an artist and photographer from St. Johns, Newfoundland. Her photography draws inspiration from fantasy, dystopia, and thrillers to create evocative imagery that startles, inspires, and excites. Kit signed with Engen Books in 2018 as head photographer, producing the thrilling image for Chillers from the Rock and re-imagining the covers to the entire Black Womb series into the Coral Beach Casefiles series. Drew Power is a currently seated member of the Sci-Fi on the Rock committee. He was recently featured as the model on the cover of the bestselling collection Chillers from the Rock.

Carolyn R Parsons. Carolyn R. Parsons is a Newfoundland & Labrador author with a background in freelance journalism and is the owner-operator of Cabochon Manuscript Services. She served on the board of the Writers' Alliance of Newfoundland and Labrador until 2021 and is the author of six published books including The Forbidden Dreams of Betsy Elliott released by Flanker Press in 2019 and The Key of Impasto novella, a Slipstreamers book by Engen Books in 2020. In 2021 she was chosen as one of 125 authors from around the world to have her entire body of work launched to the moon on the Peregrine Mission via SpaceX and NASA as part of their lunar time capsule Writers on the Moon payload. The launch is scheduled for June 2022. She married Kent Chaffey in front of 18,000 people in the Zamboni Corner during the first intermission at a NHL hockey game in New York City in 2012 and together they have raised four children. Her latest novel, a post-apocalyptic/dystopian work entitled Desolate was released through Engen Books in the spring of 2022
