Gentle | Kit Sora’s Storytime

Lately there is a 9/10 chance that when I set out to shoot a 52, I have next to no idea what I’m doing. This particular week was an out of town wedding, and an early morning to get back into town for a wedding show on Sunday- which left me little time to think let alone plan anything. So naturally, Drew and I wander off into the woods with a fancy ass dress, a flower crown, 3 birds, fake blood & a spool of wire, hoping for the best!

Funnily enough, once I had cleared myself of the fake blood (yes it stains in case you’re wondering), we were heading back down the little path cleared in a field of yellow flowers talking to the bees when a branch hit the ground behind us, and I noticed a precious little chickadee bouncing from one low branch to another on a tree I was standing next to! He wasn’t shy or afraid, and carelessly danced about~

Had I found him earlier, perhaps I would have pulled out all my Disney Magic to convince him into a photo with me

“Love in a Bottle” by Tish MacWebber |Short Story Winner

The dress was pretty, but not her style. She preferred comfort over fashion. Her hair was still damp. He had left her companions to assist with her preparations. They fussed over her hair, applied layers of makeup, and talked to her of the things which women talk about. Tips on how to make a man happy, and how to properly run a household. She would become the lady of the castle after the ceremony.

Tishlee barely paid attention. She longed to escape.

When her ladies in waiting completed their masterpiece, they made her stand and turn for them. “Beautiful!” They both agreed.

When she looked in the mirror, she saw through the reflection to the sorrow in her soul. She half-heartedly smiled and asked if she could wait in the garden. She wanted to clear her mind, she told them. Continue reading “Love in a Bottle” by Tish MacWebber |Short Story Winner

Holy Honey Hams!

I don’t even know where to start with any of this! About a year ago, an amazing local publishing company called Engen Books reached out to me for a coffee date to discuss ‘ideas’ they had! Upon collecting the perfect hot chocolate, they started throwing out ideas of grandeur like purchasing some of my pieces for books, shooting book covers, and then creating a book of my own. Of course at the time it seemed more like a pipe dream, but now, just about a year later, after copious amounts of Tim’s, meetings, online discussions, and chilly shoots, I’m writing this post my first ever book launch.

Matthew & Ellen, I cannot thank you & the team of Engen Books enough for making all of this possible! I always shot what I did for myself because I enjoyed, it, and shared it with my small portion of the world just for fun, but I never in a million years would have thought that so many people would be interested in half of what I was putting out there, and I’m honoured and forever grateful you picked me and made that connection and believed in me from the get go. You’re making my dreams come true

Ian & Renee, my darling parents! Your unending support and love all these years through my bright ideas and less bright ideas is so crucial to how far I’ve come, and I love you both so much for it! From letting me borrow the SUV to transport a giant door around to set on fire, to smiling and nodding when I pitched a crazy photo idea, to simply dropping in a ‘We’re so proud of you’ in casual conversation. From the bottom (all the way to the top) of my heart, Thank you! I love you both beyond measure! Continue reading Thank you all for a successful launch! | Storytime with Kit Sora

Dormancy| Kit Sora’s Storytime

STORYTIME! Yes, that is snow, yes I am naked from the hips up, and yes, it was just as cold as you would think! That said, I did have fleece lined leggings, fuzzy socks, and my wintriest boots on just out of shot!

I had an antler shot in my head for a while, I was just lacking the antlers! Then, by some miracle, a dear friend Tara had a set and offered them to be to borrow for a prop! Because they were on lend, I could add the copious amounts of glitter that I had originally in my head, but the butterfly worked out just as well for the overall tone of this shot.
